I just found this online too!

“Exocarp (Gr. “outside” + “fruit”), is a botanical term for the outermost layer of the pericarp (or fruit). The exocarp is sometimes called the epicarp, or, especially in citruses, the flavedo.”

Who knew flavedo could mean so many things!

Flavedo: an artificial flavour assigned to an object.
eg, That watermelon has a strawberry flavedo. That OMG corn has a plastic flavedo.
